EVERY DEED, GOOD OR EVIL, WILL BE JUDGED

EVERY DEED, GOOD OR EVIL, WILL BE JUDGED

The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. —Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Here is the fact of all life— here is the purpose of all life— We are to “Fear God and keep his commandments.”  What does it mean to “fear God?”  It means I understand Who He is, who I am and “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech” (Proverbs 8:13).  Job was “a man who fears God and shuns evil” (Job 2:3).

What to know who truly loves our Lord, who truly fears Him, who has a proper respect and view of Him?  It is the person who

  • Sees relationship with God as first priority
  • Sees the priority of serving God
  • Understands he will give an account to God
  • Seeks to be obedient to God
  • Hates evil
  • Hates pride
  • Hates arrogance
  • Hates evil behavior
  • Hates perverse speech

This is how the person lives who is in right relationship with our Lord God Almighty.  So, is God your first priority?  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment” (Matthew 22:37-38).  Is serving our Lord priority for you?  Jesus also said, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them” (John 14:21).  And do you truly understand that you, as an individual, will give an account to God? — “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (II Corinthians 5:10).  Now that is truly a sobering thought!  Let us live faithfully for Him now so we might hear those words— “Well done, my good servant!” (Luke 19:17).

Yes, Dear Father, I seek to live faithfully for You so I might just hear those words.  May I yield to the power of Your Holy Spirit and the authority of Jesus Your Son to do Your will.  Yes, so may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imGO5KUEZo4
