DON’T BE SHORT-SIGHTED!

DON’T BE SHORT-SIGHTED!

Why do the wicked live, reach old age, and grow mighty in power? —Job 21:7

They spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to Sheol. They say to God, ‘Depart from us! We do not desire the knowledge of your ways. —Job 21:13-14

Sometimes we may have the tendency to look at others and wonder “Why do the wicked live, reach old age, and grow mighty in power?”  Sometimes it may seem like their lives are better off than those who are following the Lord.  But this is short-sighted thinking.

Even though the wicked may “spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to Sheol.”  That is very short-lived when comparing this life with eternity.  This life is so brief.  It is like a brief shadow (Ecclesiastes 6:12), like a withering flower (Job 12:2), like a mist (James 4:14) and then we die and eternity stretches out before us.

The wicked say to God, “Depart from us! We do not desire the knowledge of your ways.”  And so it is today with may.  They don’t want anything to do with God.  But “death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart” (Ecclesiastes 7:2) and “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).  And, then the wicked will have their desire… forever separated from God in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15).

Oh, I plead with You to call on Jesus and be saved from the eternal judgment.  Don’t wind up like the rich man who didn’t want anything to do with God and His ways.  Hear his voice from the place of judgment— “have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.”  His destiny was seal and he had no hope and so he said, “‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.”  But he was told “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead” (Luke 16:19-31).

This life is brief!  Let us prepare for eternity if we have not already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYZw0dfLmLk&t=42s  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus.  Yes, may this be so.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_gBpvihKcQ
