REACH ONE FOR JESUS!

And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.” So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth. In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.” And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?” Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” —Acts 8:29-36

            Who is there in your life that our Lord is encouraging you to be in the Scriptures with?  Are you being sensitive and obedient to God’s Holy Spirit in this?  Or, are you deflecting and are doing other things instead?

            The Spirit directed Philip and he was obedient and boldly approached the chariot the eunuch was traveling in.  He asked the eunuch— “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?”  With a question Philip found out the eunuch was open to looking at the Scriptures together— “And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.”

            As they sat together, the eunuch had a question about the Scripture from Isaiah 53 that he was reading.  He said, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?”  Philip explained, “beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus.” 

            Through this encounter the eunuch came to faith in Jesus and said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?”  So the eunuch came to believe in Jesus with the help Philip gave as he was led by the Holy Spirit to talk to this man.  Then the eunuch desired to be obedient and be baptized to bear witness to his faith.

Who in your life is our Lord encouraging you to approach to look into the Scriptures together so they would come to an understanding as to who Jesus is and call on Him?  Dear Father, may we be obedient to Your Holy Spirit’s guidance to those who desire to know what Your Word says about Jesus and that they would call on Him.  Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcmqSfr1ENY
