BE WISE AND DISERNING, FOLLOWING OUR LORD WHOLE-HEARTEDLY!
BE WISE AND DISCERNING, FOLLOWING OUR LORD WHOLE-HEARTEDLY!
…for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. —I Chronicles 28:9
Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.” —I Chronicles 28:20
Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision. —I Chronicles 29:19
And the LORD made Solomon very great in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel. —I Chronicles 29:25
It is clear that “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13). Therefore, He indeed “searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought.” Nothing, absolutely nothing is hidden from His sight. He knows the motivations and intentions of every single person. He surely is Sovereign over all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x8TZiwPGa0
David encouraged his son Solomon to “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.” Just as our Lord was with Solomon so He has said to us that “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6). So let us take courage and “be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus: (II Timothy 2:1). Yes, dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
David’s desire, like all godly parents, was that Solomon would be whole-hearted in following the Lord. His desire was for his son to “build the palace for which I have made provision.” Oh, isn’t that our desire for our children? Don’t we desire to see our children and their children to be faithful in the work our Lord has called them to? May this be so right down to the end of the age through those family members who follow after us! Yes, Dear Father may this be so!
God answered David’s request— “And the LORD made Solomon very great in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.” The Lord had said to Solomon— “I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be” (I Kings 3:12). O Lord, please give me, and the family that comes after me, a wise and discerning heart to do Your will. Yes, may it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So may it be.
