VICTORY OVER DEATH!
VICTORY OVER DEATH!
While he was still speaking, someone from the ruler’s house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more.” But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” And when he came to the house, he allowed no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said, “Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But taking her by the hand he called, saying, “Child, arise.” And her spirit returned, and she got up at once. And he directed that something should be given her to eat. And her parents were amazed, but he charged them to tell no one what had happened. —Luke 8:49-56
You will not die until the Lord says it is your time. He has all power, even the power over death— the power over your death. He proves it in this passage. The Synagogue ruler’s daughter had died, but Jesus said, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” People “laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.” But then Jesus took her “by the hand he called, saying, ‘Child, arise.’ And her spirit returned, and she got up at once.” Of course— “her parents were amazed!” We should be amazed as well, but not surprised when we know Who He Is.
There is much we do not understand surrounding death. One thing is sure and that is death occurs when our spirit, the real you inside this body tent, leaves. This little girl had died. Her spirit had left her body and Jesus called her back and “her spirit returned, and she got up at once.” Does Jesus do this for everyone who dies? No, but there are occasions, to fulfill His purpose that He does do this.
One thing is for sure. We can trust Jesus in life and we can trust Him for our death and for the death of others— even if we do not understand everything. Yes, Dear Father, we may have many questions, but I am so glad the big question is answered for me— Who Jesus is— My Savior and Lord, King and Friend— whether in life or through death… I will be with Him forever in glory! I am so grateful to know this and now may I live faithfully for You by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgsbaBIaoVc&list=RDcgsbaBIaoVc&start_radio=1
