BE MULTIPLIED THROUGH ME FOR YOUR GLORY!
Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?” —John 11:7-8
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. —John 12:24
One grain of wheat still growing on the stalk is just one grain of wheat. Put plant that grain of wheat as a seed and it will be multiplied greatly. This can be seen in what just happen in John chapter 11 when Lazarus died. It was through His death that many came to believe in Jesus. This was illustrative also of what would happen when Jesus would die on the cross. He would rise from the dead and multitudes would believe!
Jesus was being discouraged by His disciples from going back to Judea when “the Jews were just now seeking to stone you.” But Jesus was not taken back by the plans of man. There was a greater plan and that is what He was seeking to fulfill. Yes, they were seeking to kill Jesus… and they would. But what they would not be realizing is that God’s purposes in His death were being accomplished. Multitudes would come to believe!
Now let us consider this for our own lives… Are we willing to go as God desires us to do, regardless of what may lay ahead? Are we willing to trust Him to carry out His plans and purposes in and through our lives even in the most difficult circumstances? Oh, may it be so!
We must die to self so our lives will be fruitful. Otherwise, we remain alone. “He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed” (I Peter 2:24). So, let us live for what is right. Let us be witnesses, make disciples and love God and people.
