HIS PATIENCE WILL END

The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place. But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy. —II Chronicles 36:15-16

They were told again and again to leave the area because the volcano was going to erupt in the near future. Those warned mocked the messengers. “This volcano has never erupted,” they said. The government officials were very concerned and sent messengers to the people many times, but they were just mocked. There was nothing left that the government officials could do. Those mocking did not do so when the volcano did erupt a few days later. They met their unfortunate end because of not listening to the messengers sent to them.

So it was with the people living in Judah. They would not listen to God’s messengers, but mocked them instead. The people despised God’s Words and God’s messengers. Finally, the Lord God’s patience ended and His wrath was aroused against the people. There was no more remedy for them and God gave them over to the Babylonians which He brought up against them.

Woe to the nation who will not listen to God’s Word and God’s messengers. It is only a matter of time before the Lord’s patience runs out and He brings judgment on that people. The United States is no different. If Americans do not listen to God’s Word or His messengers, then the Lord’s patience will eventually run out and judgment will come. May this country listen before there is no remedy!

Dear Father, thank You for Your great patience. May those of us who know You speak Your Word with boldness and call people to trust You. May this be done in Jesus’ Name and in the Holy Spirit’s authority.
