JESUS— THE ONLY WAY

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.  At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. —Matthew 27:50-51

The very moment that Jesus died— “At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”  Why did that happen?

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” —Hebrews 10:19-25

Never could anyone enter the Holy Place except for the High Priest.  What Jesus did, through the offering of His body, is open up the true Holy Place that we could come into the very presence of God at any time.  The only reason we can do that is because of the shed blood of Jesus at the cross that atones for our sin— “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (I John 2:2).  The torn curtain signifies that all who call on Jesus can now enter the very presence of God from anywhere in the world!

Again, Jesus has made the way, and is the only way (John 14:6; Acts 4:12), to enter into the very presence of God.  Indeed, we are invited to “approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).  Wow, we should be at His throne often because we are very needy people.

Thank You, Dear Father, that Jesus opened the way to talk with You directly.  I do not need to go to a special place.  I do not have to go through a special person.  Indeed, “there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time” (I Timothy 2:5-6).  Now, out of loving gratitude, may I, with my flaws, seek to serve You faithfully.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus.  Yes, so may it be!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03yICF2pI8Y&list=RD03yICF2pI8Y&start_radio=1
