LITTLE FAITH OR MUSTARD SEED FAITH
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” —Matthew 17:20
It is not the amount of faith a person has, but it is who that faith is put in. Little faith in the eternal God can accomplish much because it is the eternal God that is ultimately in control of all things. Surely, it would be wise to put our faith/trust in Him for all things.
Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’” Ok… but He had just said to the disciples that that they could not drive out the demon “Because you have so little faith.” How little was their faith? Just before that He stated, “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” In a parallel passage, Mark 9:24, the demon possessed boy’s dad said, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Small faith is focused wrongly. Mustard seed faith has the proper focus on the God who can do anything He desires. Small faith is overridden by unbelief.
So, what kind of faith do we have? Small faith which has a wrong focus and mixed with unbelief and lack of confidence or mustard seed faith which believes wholeheartedly that our Lord God Almighty can do anything He desires to do? Let’s have wholehearted faith in Him. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXMPNXXnCls&list=RDvXMPNXXnCls&start_radio=1
