THE ACCUSER

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.  But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” —Matthew 12:25-37

Do not accuse anyone for no reason— when they have done you no harm. —Proverb 3:30

There are those who will make false accusations against you to accomplish what they desire.  Even though God says, “Do not accuse anyone for no reason— when they have done you no harm,” there are those who need to “come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to his will” (II Timothy 2:26).  As long as people are snared by the devil, they are captive to do his will.  The devil is “the accuser” and he regularly accuses the followers of Jesus falsely (Revelation 12:10).  He does that through those he has ensnared and is holding captive to do his will.

Let me give an example of what happened to me recently that illustrates this…

“On Tuesday, January 13th, and Thursday, January 15th, I was at the gym. On the 13th, I had a brief and friendly conversation with (M). She shared some of her vocational background, and I asked if I could share a bit of my own story. I showed her some illusionary cards I carry, which she found interesting. After hearing my story, she said it was “amazing.” She mentioned she was Jewish, and I offered her something to read if she was interested. She said she was Jewish but would read it. That was the extent of our interaction.

At no point did I harass her, pressure her, judge her, or expect anything in return. I had no inappropriate intentions whatsoever.

I was later informed that (M) complained to management and claimed that I was “approaching young women.” This accusation is false and carries serious implications. At no time during our conversation did she express discomfort, ask me to stop speaking with her, or indicate that she did not want to engage.

I am also concerned that this accusation may be spreading beyond management. Before I was made aware of the situation, I noticed (M) speaking quietly with another young woman while I was nearby, in a way that seemed intentionally hushed. At the time I found it unusual, but in light of the accusation, it raises concern that she may be repeating this false claim to others. Spreading false statements that harm someone’s reputation constitutes slander.

I respectfully request that (M) be asked not to speak about me to others at the gym. This gym promotes a “Judgment Free Zone,” yet this situation involves a serious and unfounded judgment about my character that is now being circulated. At least two members of management have already heard this accusation, which means it is being spread.”

Now, compared to what brothers and sisters go through in other countries, this is minor, but it is a way our adversary works to destroy.  There are those who bring “evil things out of the evil stored up in him.”  Our Lord will have the final Word when every person “will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”  Word reveals what a person truly is on the inside.

So, brother and sister, fellow followers of Jesus, as you live for our Lord Jesus Christ and seek to share Him with others, expect at some point there will be opposition.  In the U.S. it is minor compared to other places… at least for the present.  I will not stop proclaiming the good news and neither should you.  May we do so, Dear Father, and please guard us against those who would do us harm.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UA56lbZyZw&list=RD6UA56lbZyZw&start_radio=1
