REFLECT GOD’S WISDOM BY YOUR ACTIONS

“But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” —Matthew 11:19

By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. —Proverbs 3:19-20

             Jesus said, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander” (Matthew 15:19).  The actions or deeds of a person comes from who that person is on the inside.  There are actions, as mentioned here, that are evil that start with evil thoughts.

             On the other hand, there are deeds that are proved right because they are done by faith and seek to please God by applying His wisdom.  Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge.  By proper understanding a person will act right, applying correctly the knowledge of God— again, because that person’s desire is to be and do what pleases Him.

             As a follower of Jesus, if you are sharing Him with others, there will be opposition.  Now in the U.S. we generally do not experience physical persecution for sharing our faith— although there have been people killed here because they are followers of Jesus.  Though we might not be killed regularly here for following Jesus, the adversary has other ways to seek to destroy and malign.

             Recently I had shared Jesus with an individual at one of the gyms I go to.  The conversation was cordial and this person accepted a Gospel of John and said they would read it.  A couple days later I was approached by management who shared a complaint by this person and made a false accusation about me.  Fortunately, management at this gym knows me and knew the accusation was false because we have talked many times.  They understand who I am and whose I am.  “But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”  Actions stemming from within will prove who we really are— one way or the other.
