LOVE GOD AND PEOPLE!
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. —Psalm 13:5
We are to love God and love people (Matthew 22:37-40). I love You Lord and “I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.” Jesus, it utterly astounds me when I think what You have done for me. Your willingness to come to this planet as a baby, live among us for 33 years, allow Your own creation to kill You, then rise from the dead, appear to Your disciples over a period of 40 days, ascend back to heaven, sending Your Holy Spirit to dwell in Your disciples and will come again at the end of age to set all things perfectly right. This is beyond my comprehension as I look into the vastness of the universe You created. But yes, “I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.” I may not understand everything, but I do understand this… at least to some degree… and I am hanging on what You have said because—
“Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” —Romans 15:4-6
And what was this attitude of mind that Jesus had and we should? —
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” —Philippians 2:5-8
Dear Father, may I be the loving servant that You desire. Yes, please help me to have the same mindset as Jesus. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. May this be so to honor You and also for the benefit of many others.
