BE A BLESSING BY SHARING THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS
To Jacob our Lord said, “Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.” —Genesis 28:14
This promise was first given to Abraham, then to Isaac and now to Jacob. Indeed, Jacob’s “descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.”
That promise continues through the followers of Jesus. Jesus is the “Offspring” of Jacob and through Him “All peoples on earth will be blessed” from “the west and to the east, to the north and to the south.” In not the same words, but the same principle is stated when Jesus said to His disciples,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” —Matthew 28:18-20
Now, let me ask you a question— Who will be blessed because you bring the message of Jesus to them? It is simply amazing that as we share Jesus with others and they respond, we do not know where the message will end up. Especially today as we share His Word through all sorts of media, the message can end up in any country and who knows how that country will be affected because of your faithfulness. That is exciting.
Yes, Jesus also said, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). At some point all the nations will be blessed with the blessing promised to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and through us as Jesus has command us to “make disciples of all nations.” May we be faithful to His call on our lives. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Show me who to share with each and every day.
