DISOBEDIENCE LEADS TO DISTORTION AND DESTRUCTION

Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind. —Genesis 9:6

             When a low, distorted and false view of the origins of mankind are believed then there is also a low view and value of human life.  Not acknowledging that “in the image of God has God made mankind” leads to permissiveness when it comes to carrying out justice on murderers— those who intentionally kill another person.  This leads to greater wickedness among people.  Because “the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong” Ecclesiastes 8:11).   

“For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.” —Romans 13:3-5

             When it comes to mankind, created in God’s image, a person who kills another forfeits their own life.  But when it comes down to society today, the person who kills another is treated as if their life is more important than the one they murdered.  Because the government is not being responsible in this area, there is an increase in wickedness.  There are those who have murdered who are released only to kill again.  The government is not taking its responsibility to carry out justice.

             When God said, “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind” in Noah’s day is still true today.  Man today is “in the image of God (who) has God made mankind.”  In God’s sight murder is still a capital offense.  It is because man does not have a right attitude toward God and so they do not listen to what He says, but they do what they want.  Wickedness will increase because of it.
