THE PRIORITY OF FOUNDATIONS
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” —Matthew 7:24-27
Water is so powerful in a storm. This was the bottom floor of the hotel we are staying in on the West Coast of Florida. When hurricane Ian came through it swept away many small and large buildings alike. It took two years to rebuild this hotel. Life can change in a moment, but what are we building our life on? Sand is what they build on here. Of course they drive pilings deep in the ground, but still, it is sand… Many of the building without pilings were just wipe clean from their locations.
Yes, water is a powerful force whether in the form of—
- Huge ocean waves
- Strong river currents
- Flash floods
- Rip currents
Water in the Word of God above is what tests the building’s foundation. What one does when they hear the Word of God will determine if their life’s foundation is sandy or build on solid ground. When the storms of life come application of the Word of God will give stability. Just hearing the Word of God without application will bring instability and destruction. Are you applying the Word of God to your life? If so, they you will have stability from God’s perspective. If you are not applying God’s Word, then there will be instability from God’s perspective.
Dear Father, Lord God Almighty, please help me to apply Your Word to my life. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, so may it be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-1fwZtKJSM&list=RDu-1fwZtKJSM&start_radio=1
