THE DEVIL’S DESTRUCTIVENESS & THE BELIEVER’S VICTORY

The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.  Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah.  For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.  They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.  Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!  But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you!  He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” —Revelation 12:9-12

The great dragon—

  • Is the ancient serpent
  • Is the devil
  • Is Satan
  • Leads the whole world astray
  • Was hurled to the earth
  • And his angels (demons) were hurled to the earth with him
  • Is the accuser of our brothers
  • Is the accuser of our sisters
  • Accuses day and night before our God
  • Will cause woe to the earth
  • Will cause woe to the sea
  • Is filled with fury
  • Knows his time is short

But know this, brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, that there is the coming of “salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah.  And we who love Him—

  • Triumph over the devil by the blood of the Lamb
  • Triumph over the devil by the word of our testimony
  • Love not our lives so much as to shrink back from death

So, “rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!”  The time is coming when there will be—

“a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” —Revelation 21:1-4

We rejoice, Dear Father, at the hope you have given us by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Thank You! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12a1eF5X-mA&list=RD12a1eF5X-mA&start_radio=1
