ONLY ONE GOSPEL AND NOT TO BE CHANGED!
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! —Galatians 1:8-9
“We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. —Galatians 2:15-16
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” —Galatians 2:20-21
Beware of those who come with “another gospel.” They are under God’s curse and they preach “a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough” (II Corinthians 11:4). We should never put up with a different Jesus, a different spirit or a different gospel!
We who have called on Jesus are—
- Not justified by the works of the law
- Living by faith in the Son of God
- Loved by the Son of God
- Gifted Himself to us
- Not setting aside the grace of God
- Not gaining righteousness through the law
- Crucified with Him
- No longer living
- Living because He lives in us
- Are living by faith in Him
So, Paul said, “even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!” Paul is even putting himself under God’s curse if he shares a different gospel than the gospel he received! As Paul said another way—
“Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.” —I Corinthians 15:1-8
And—
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
