CALLED TO FREELY SERVE
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. —II Corinthians 3:5
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. —II Corinthians 3:17
For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. —II Corinthians 4:5
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. —II Corinthians 4:7
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. —II Corinthians 4:17-18
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. —Psalm 150:6
Yes, today, let us praise our Lord. Whatever troubles we are facing “are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” So, praise our Lord. We know what the end result is. We are living in the temporary and yet let us keep our focus on the eternal— the eternal!
As we live in this world let us remember that we are not “competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” Whatever competence we have we need to acknowledge where it comes from and praise God for giving it to us. Let us thank Him for whatever competence He has given us and for the freedom given to us by His Son and through His Spirit to live out that competence to bring honor and glory to His Name.
We are not following Jesus for selfish reasons. No, “what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” Listen! He has called us to—
- Praise His Name
- Know our troubles are achieving an eternal glory
- Not fix our eyes on the temporal
- Fix our eyes on the eternal
- Acknowledge our competence comes from Him
- Acknowledge the freedom He has given us
- Not preach ourselves
- Preach Jesus Christ as Lord
- Be servant for the sake of others
Oh, brothers and sisters, dear fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, let us be faithful to what He has called us to. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqWYSyDZYIg&list=RDEqWYSyDZYIg&start_radio=1
