LOVE FORGIVES BECAUSE OF JESUS
Love… keeps no record of wrongs. —I Corinthians 13:5
Do you keep a log in your mind of everything wrong someone has done against you? I find it interesting that Jesus tells us to “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you” and to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44). So, if this is the case, love will not keep a record of wrongs and will even do good and pray for those who hate us. Wow, if this is how we are to respond to those who hate us, what is our response to those who have just wrong us but surely don’t hate us?
Is this the type of love exhibited in my life and in your life? Or, do we have a log book in our mind that is keeping record of all the wrongs done toward us? We are to “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13). Does this describe us or do we hold grudges because of unforgiveness toward those who have wronged us? Hmmmm…. What does Jesus say? That is what counts. Dear Father, please help me to have no “record of wrongs” in a log book of the mind. May a log book not exist in my mind by the power of Your Holy Spirit and by the authority of Your Son Jesus. You know all things and I can trust You to work them out according to Your purposes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARSGgC9iQb0&list=RDARSGgC9iQb0&start_radio=1
