PROCLAIM HIS WORD TO THE CHURCHES AND BEYOND!
They proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. —Acts 13:5
From Perga they went on to Pisidian Antioch. On the Sabbath they entered the synagogue and sat down. After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, please speak.” —Acts 13:14-15
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. —Acts 13:44
“We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.” —Acts 13:46
At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. —Acts 14:1
Paul and team’s usual strategy was to go to the Jewish synagogue to share God’s Word with them. They put themselves among the Jewish people in order to have the opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with them— “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.” And so, they proclaimed eternal life in Jesus, but when the Jewish community rejected the message, then they turned to the Gentiles to share this good news.
Go to the “church” first to share the good news of the gospel which includes, for those who receive it and are saved, to make disciples that in turn make disciples. This is the co-mission Jesus gave us and is for every believer—
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” —Matthew 28:18-20
So, how faithful am I being to the co-mission Jesus has given me? How faithful are you to the co-mission Jesus has given you? Oh, Dear Father, may we not get distracted away from that which Your Son gave us to do. Instead, may we be faith to that co-mission by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may this be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QANH8MWuyaE&list=RDQANH8MWuyaE&start_radio=1
