CROP PRODUCING SEED!
CROP PRODUCING SEED!
Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” —Luke 8:8
But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. —Luke 8:15
The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him. —Luke 8:38-39
Seeds are not meant to remain alone. They are to produce other plants that produce other seeds and that will continue to the end of the age. So also it is with followers of Jesus. We have the seed, the Word of God, that is meant to produce other believers as we share it. Within the seed of the Word of God is power—
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, e just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” —Romans 1:16-17
Faith in Jesus “comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ (Romans 10:17). And “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). God’s Word is where faith comes from. What He says is what counts and we are told that “these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31).
Seed (the Word of God), planted in good soil (a person’s life), will produce a multiplicative crop (others coming to “believe in (Jesus) through their message— John 17:20). But this takes place by perseverance just as the farmer has to persevere to bring a crop from seed to fruition. This is seen in the life of the formerly demon possessed man. When Jesus drove the demons out, the man wanted to go with Jesus. Jesus told him to “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” What did the man do? He “went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.” Undoubtedly, the man in his faithful sowing of the seed produce a large crop.
Are you and I planting seed, sharing God’s Word with others? May it be so, Dear Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of the Lord Jeus, Your Son for Your glory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE_PNUNmw9c&list=RDrE_PNUNmw9c&start_radio=1
