TREMBLE, O EARTH, AT THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD!

TREMBLE, O EARTH, AT THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD!

They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way. —Luke 4:29-30

In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, “Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”  “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him. —Luke 4:33-35

Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah. —Luke 4:41

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”  Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”  When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. —Luke 5:4-6

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. —Luke 5:16

Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”  Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” —Luke 5:29-32

Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, who turned the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water. —Psalm 114:7-8

            How great is our God!

  • When the people tried to kill him, He just walked through the crowd and left— His time to die had not come.
  • Demons cry out, knowing this Holy One of God will, one day, destroy them.
  • Demons shout out that He is the Son of God and He forbid them to speak
  • When Simon had worked hard at fishing all night long and caught nothing, Jesus told him to let down His nets. Simon did and caught a huge number of fish that their nets began to break.  Jesus knew where fish were.
  • Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed!
  • Jesus ate with sinners to call them to repentance.

Yes, “Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, who turned the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water.”  Our God is all powerful and can do anything He desires.  This is the God we serve and so let us live boldly for Him, doing His will.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDgmJFw6F64&list=RDwDgmJFw6F64&start_radio=1
