SATANIC PROMPTING OF EVIL

SATANIC PROMPTING OF EVIL

The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. —John 13:2

For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. —John 13:11

“I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turned against me.’ —John 13:18

“Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.” —John 13:21

Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.  So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. —John 13:26-28

Judas was in “the trap of the devil, who (had) taken (him) captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).  Fellow followers of Jesus, beware that there are those around us that are doing Satan’s will.  These people are in Satan’s trap and are being held “captive to do his will.”

So was the case with Judas and he plotted with the Jewish leadership to betray Jesus.  How so very sad that Judas has shared meals with Jesus, had close fellowship with Jesus as they traveled together as a group.  And yet, instead of letting Jesus fully into his life, Judas was open to Satan’s control of his life which caused him to do Satan’s will in betraying Jesus.

Betrayed by one that had spent almost three years with Jesus.  He walked with them, talked with them, served with them, ate with them… and yet he was not really one of them.  And not one of the other disciples knew this.  They thought Judas was one of them, but Jesus knew all along…

Let us ask our Lord to help us know of those who are like Judas around us and to beware of them.  Mostly, let us continue in the work our Lord has given to us (Ephesians 2:10).  Let us be zealous in that work (Titus 2:14).  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be and all for Your honor and glory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE_PNUNmw9c&list=RDrE_PNUNmw9c&start_radio=1
