WORRY NOT!

WORRY NOT!

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? —Matthew 6:27

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. —Matthew 6:34

Worry… Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?  No, of course not!  “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  People worry about all kinds of situations and circumstances that are happening, may happen or are perceived as possible.  Worrying does not accomplish anything other than impact ourselves.  It affects our state of mind and many times even our actions or inaction.

Is it any wonder Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…: (Matthew 6:25).  And if Philippians 4:7-7 we read—

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Anxiety “disorders” affect millions in the United States according to what I have read.  It is said that 31% of Americans have experienced anxiety “disorder” at some point and 19% have in the past year.  COVID 19 caused anxiety to increase greatly and that still affects many. I also read that in 2024 43% of adults reported feeling more anxious than in 2023— up from 37% in 2023.

Anxiety can impact our health with “increased heart rate and blood pressure, and also contribute to long-term health problems like digestive issues, sleep disturbances, and weakened immunity.”  Surely, Jesus did not want us to be anxious and worrying.  Instead, “in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  So, let us bring our worries to Him who said—

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” —Matthew 11:28-30

So, do you want to worry or rest in Jesus.  I will rest in Jesus!  May I do so, Dear Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, may this be so and that “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ4Bm6DIs8Q&list=RDDJ4Bm6DIs8Q&start_radio=1
