Things that appear to be random are actually directed by our Lord. Even though Ahab had disguised himself, the Lord knew exactly where he was. Then at sunset he died.” Yes, that arrow had Ahab’s name on it. It was the instrument our Lord used to bring his life to an end.
Be sure, when it is time for a person’s life to end, however it may, it will end. I just read of a person who had just gotten married a few months earlier. She was driving along when an elk smashed through her windshield and she died. Yes, when our appointment with death arrives (Hebrews 9:27), it is an appointment we will not miss or be late for. It will be right on time… however it happens.
As followers of Jesus, we need not fear death. It is just a stepping stone into our Lord’s glorious presence— “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:8).
