COMMITMENT
COMMITMENT
For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. —II Chronicles 16:9
Fully committed to Him… am I? Are you? What does that look like? Well, we get a picture in the early church’s commitment/devotion—
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” —Acts 2:42-47
They were devoted/committed to—
- The Word of God— This is the first priority. What does God say and I need to put into practice what He says— Matthew 7:24-27
- Fellowship— The early church spent large amounts of time with each other. This is an area that we have great need. We don’t spend much time together as believers.
- Breaking of Bread— They remembered the Lord’s “death until He comes” often.
- Prayer— They looked to the Lord, speaking and listening to Him, often.
- Supernatural events happening among them
- Understanding their “stuff” was not their own. They were God’s managers of it
- Selling possessions and giving to those in need
- Meeting together every day
- Breaking bread in their homes
- Eating together with glad and sincere hearts
- Praising God
- Having favor with all the people
- Seeing the Lord at to their number daily those being saved
We are told that “the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” Oh, that you and I would be one of those He strengthens because we “are fully committed to him.” Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIvw3PPvqWc&list=RDLIvw3PPvqWc&start_radio=1
