EVERYTHING IS FROM HIS HAND!
All the kings of the earth sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart. —II Chronicles 9:23
Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever…. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds. —Psalm 73:25-26, 28
There are no self-made men. All knowledge comes from God (indeed, everything comes from God) and men can use that knowledge for good or for evil. This wisdom that Solomon had was given to God. This wisdom “God had put in his heart” and “All the kings of the earth sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.” This is what God did for Solomon—
“God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.” —II Chronicles 1:11-12
So, we know from this passage that it is God Who gives—
- Wisdom— the right application of knowledge from experience
- Knowledge—to understand something by experience
- Wealth
- Possessions
- Honor
- Placement— there will be no king before or after him like him
Let us make Him our refuge— “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.” Truly, “God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Yes, “it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Whatever God has given me, may I be faithful with it and share with others.
