DEVOTED

Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God. —I Chronicles 22:19

How devoted am I?  Am I truly seeking the Lord?  Am I devoted more to other things?  Am I seeking more for other things?  Just where is my focus?  Look at the devotion of the early church and the results of that devotion—

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” —-Acts 2:42-47

            What were they devoted to?

  • The Apostle’s teaching— they learned/applied the Word of God
  • Fellowship— they were together often
  • Breaking of bread— remembering what the Lord had done for them
  • Prayer— they talked and listened to our Lord God Almighty

Do I have that type of devotion?  They—

  • Were filled with awe at the wonders and signs the apostles were doing
  • Had everything in common
  • Sold property/possessions and gave to those in need
  • Met in the temple courts every day
  • Broke bread in their homes
  • Ate together
  • Had glad hearts
  • Had sincere hearts
  • Were praising God
  • Were enjoying favor of all the people
  • Had salvation additions to their number daily by the Lord

Again, how devoted am I and where am I seeing our Lord at work.  Dear Father, truly, may I be as devoted as those early believers.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rKKybs7o2Q&list=RD1rKKybs7o2Q&start_radio=1
