SEEK NOT TO SIN!
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you. —Psalm 51:10-13
Oh, to have pure a heart is what I desire. I desire to be perfect and look forward to being in glory where my heart will be perfectly pure forever. Until then, O Lord, please “renew a steadfast spirit within me.” May I be disciplined and seek to live after Your desires more and more. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
Sin robs one of joy, of steadfastness, of purity, of loss of fellowship, passion to teach others His ways and lack of vision for those who need to hear His Word— lost or saved. So, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus—
“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” —I John 1:5-10
So, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, let us confess any known sin and move on to see to serve our Lord God Almighty faithfully. Yes, I look forward to glory where I will never sin again. Until then, Dear Father, may I seek to live a holy life for You in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
