OUR AWESOME LORD AND KING REIGNS
For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth… For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise… for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted. —Psalm 47:2, 7, 9
Our “Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.” Let us “sing to him a psalm of praise” because “the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.” Our Lord God Almighty is the Creator/Owner of all things in His magnificent universe. Those kings of the earth who think they create their own destiny don’t understand that they are actually owned by our Lord God Almighty as well as the poorest and weakest on earth and everyone in between. It is true that “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1). Yes, whether they realize it or not, “the kings of the earth belong to God” and “The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will” (Psalm 21:1).
So, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, let us take heart in knowing that “Our God is in heaven; He does as He pleases” (Psalm 115:3). “O LORD, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can stand against You.” And so, Dear Father, I am grateful to know that what my eyes cannot see are the purposes You have planned and will carry out to the end. May I be faithful with what You have shown me and do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
