YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH DEATH IS MUCH CLOSER!

For the living know that they will die… —Ecclesiastes 9:5

Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come… —Ecclesiastes 9:12

            This Book of Ecclesiastes started out with saying, “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher.  “Utterly meaningless!  Everything is meaningless” (Ecclesiastes 1:2).  Then toward the end of this book we hear those words again— “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher.  “Everything is meaningless!” (Ecclesiastes 12:8).  The word, Meaningless, has the thought of vapor or smoke and is similar to the thought in James 4:14— “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.”

            Yes, death will come to all except for those living when Jesus comes back.  Our appointment to death is on God’s calendar, but “no one knows when their hour will come.”  Are you ready because surely, “just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).  Are you ready?  Are you encouraging others to be ready? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD6khv6pGkw

            “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.  For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).  Those who have not called on Jesus will appear at the White Throne Judgment—

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” —Revelation 20:11-15

            Those who know Jesus will appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ—

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” —II Corinthians 5:10
