OUR LORD PROVIDES

 OUR LORD PROVIDES

“Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food…”  Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”  She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah. —I Kings 17:9, 13-16

During a time of famine our Lord directed Elijah to go to a place— Zarephath in the region of Sidon.  He was to stay there.  Our Lord also told Elijah that He had directed a widow there to supply him with food.  Let us be encouraged.  Our Lord directs to places and He also provides resources through those He has chosen.

Elijah arrived, met the widow who does not have any food, but is preparing a last meal for her family.  Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”  Yes, our Lord can provide however He decides to do so!

The widow did as Elijah directed and she saw her needs, and Elijah’s, miraculously met.  “So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.”

Now, we, as followers of our Lord Jesus, can trust Him to resource us with the people we need and what we need to accomplish what He desires to do in and through our lives.  Yes, Dear Father, I will trust You for what You desire to do in and through my life— even though at times I cannot see how You will do so.  But as You worked in Elijah’s life, so I can trust You to work in my life by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be for Your honor and glory.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGTY6H6SLOw
