HAVING THE FAITH OF ABRAHAM

HAVING THE FAITH OF ABRAHAM

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.  “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” —Genesis 12:1-3

Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. —Genesis 15:6

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. —Psalm 4:8

Like Abraham, have I believed in God?  Have you?  If so, “The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:23-25).  So, our destiny, like Abraham’s, is tied to our belief in God who has raised Jesus from the dead.  Do you believe that Jesus “was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification (justice served on our behalf)?”  If so, then “the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.”  So, our destiny is tied to our faith in God, just as Abram’s was.  When we believe that Jesus “was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” then we have the same faith as Abraham did.

I awoke this morning with a picture of a massive army marching in lockstep— https://youtu.be/Lmp51YN-7wc?t=462  Oh, man may think their destiny is wrapped up in power, but it is only a temporary and fleet power trip.  Man is not the commander of their destiny, the captain of their ship or the determiner of the present of eternal future.  Man, at whatever level of power, personal or national, is not ultimately in control.  Man cannot even cause his own heart to beat on its own, his own lungs to breathe on their own… life is not in his hands, though he might think it is.  His life is in God’s hands!

Our life now and forever is determined by our faith/belief in our Lord Jesus.  As I know Him now, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”  It is such a joy to know Jesus and to know that my life now and forever is secure in Him.  This brings great joy and peace and reveals that we have the same faith as Abraham.  And I thank You, Dear Father, for drawing me to Jesus to save me from my sin and to give me new life in Him.  Now may I truly seek to live faithfully for You by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXMPNXXnCls
