            I have never weighed a horse, but I read that the average weight is about 1,100-1.200 pounds.  Horses’ bits weigh 1 pound or less and yet that bit can direct that heavy horse wherever direction the rider wants to go.  So also rudders.  It is a small member of the ship (although on oil takers the rudder can weigh up to 100 tons!) and yet it can direct that ship wherever the captain desires.  The largest oil tanker, I read, is 1,504.45 feet and weighs 564,763 tons when fully loaded.  Amazing how much bits and rudder can direct such large objects.

            Our tongue is also a small member of our body.  The average tongue is 3 inches long and 2.52 inches wide, weighing about 2 ounces.  And the average weight of a person ranges between 137-180 pounds depending on what country they live in.  Even so, the tongues are a small member of the body, but look how it directs a person.  A person’s communication can be encouraging or destructive.  A person is known by what they say.  Yes, the tongue reveals the character of a person— “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of” (Luke 6:45).  So, what fills your heart? Your mouth reveals it.  What do you speak most of?  That is what your heart is filled with.  Yes, your tongue reveals who you are!
