Our Sovereign Lord!
OUR SOVEREIGN LORD!
Give them this charge for their masters: ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: This is what you shall say to your masters: “It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me. —Jeremiah 27:4-5
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. —II Timothy 4:3-4
The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. —II Timothy 4:18
Surely, we are living in a time “when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” The obvious is not so obvious to so many people today. Evil is believed as good and good is believed to be evil in so many areas of life. The wickedness of sin is powerful and “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). How wicked are sinful hearts? So wicked they nailed the innocent, blameless, sinless, Creator Jesus on the cross. This is what happens when tyrants reign. They slaughter the innocent. This is what happens with wicked mob mentality. They slaughter the innocent.
I take comfort that “The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” Oh, how comforting that is! It is also comforting to know that nobody gets into any office unless our Lord allows it for His purposes— “It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.” He is Sovereign over all. He is Sovereign over the existence and geography of every nation and people (Acts 17:26).
So as people turn away from the truth and follow their own lustful passions, let us not be surprised. Instead, let us keep focused on the work Jesus has left us to do, knowing we will be with Him one day in the perfect place where He presently is! Yes, Dear Father, help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and run the race with perseverance that You have marked out for me. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, so may it be until I am finally home! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRSGXKsv7IU
