JERUSALEM WILL BE THE PRAISE IN THE EARTH

JERUSALEM WILL BE THE PRAISE IN THE EARTH

You who put the LORD in remembrance, take no rest, and give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth. —Isaiah 62:6-7

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”  He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” —Revelation 21:1-5

Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. —Hebrews 11:16

This is what we are looking forward to—

  • Our Lord will establish Jerusalem
  • Our Lord will make Jerusalem the praise of the earth
  • Our Lord will create a new heaven and earth
  • Our Lord will create a new Jerusalem
  • Our Lord will dwell among the people
  • Our Lord will wipe away every tear
  • Our Lord will bring about a new order that does not include death
  • Our Lord will bring about a new order that does not include mourning
  • Our Lord will bring about a new order that does not include crying
  • Our Lord will bring about a new order that does not include pain
  • Our Lord will make everything new

We are “longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called (our) God, for he has prepared a city for (us).”  Even today Jerusalem is in the center of the global map.  Jerusalem was placed at the center when map making began and it is still the center of the map today.  This is not an accident.  Jerusalem will once again be the central focus as our Lord “establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth” once again in the future.

Fellow followers of Jesus, brothers and sisters in our Lord, this is what we are looking for, waiting for.  One day it will happen.  Let us say with the Apostle John in Revelation 22:20— “Come, Lord Jesus.”  Until He does, “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen” (Revelation 22:21).  Yes, Dear Father, may Your favor be upon Your people until Jesus comes.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
