WHY ME… WHY YOU…

WHY ME… WHY YOU…

He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will… making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose…  In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will. —Ephesians 1:6, 9, 11

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. —Ephesians 1:13-24

Why me?  Why you?  Why us?  Why did our Lord choose to reveal Himself to us, to call us to Himself to forgive us, to save us from our sin, to save us to a relationship with Him, to give us eternal life that we could be with Him forever in that perfect place, heaven?

He brought us to a place where—

  • We actually heard the word of truth
  • We heard the gospel of salvation
  • We believed
  • We were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit
  • We were guaranteed our inheritance
  • We will take possession of our inheritance

This is truly astounding.  We did not earn this.  We did not deserve this.  So why did He do this for us?  It was according to His purpose of His will as He “works all things according to the counsel of his will.”  You I had nothing to with the plan of God—except He chose us to be part of His plan.  It was His plan to call those He desires for His purposes.  It was not that we were anyone more special than another that He called us, but within His will, plan and purposes He chose us.  So let us rejoice that He did call us and let us also have the proper perspective on ourselves.  We had nothing good in us that He had to call us.  No, that was not the case at all.  But we do know He called us that we should be His servant, His friend, His brother and His co-heir.  This is all grace and is truly astounding.  Brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, let us live faithfully as our Lord has called us to this.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, may this be so all for Your honor and glory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsQmsEE_2-s
