HIS SON’S NAME
I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One. Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son’s name? Surely you know! —Proverbs 30:3-4
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. —II Corinthians 8:9
But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). —Romans 10:6-7
Now to each one of us grace has been given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. This is why it says: “When He ascended on high, He led captives away, and gave gifts to men.” What does “He ascended” mean, except that He also descended to the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is the very One who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things. —Ephesians 4:7-10

It is clear from this prophetic utterance in Proverbs that the Creator and Sustainer of all things has a Son and today we know it is Jesus. Let us consider not only who He is as the Son of God, but let us know and share with others all that He has done for us. Think about it… Jesus left the glory of heaven to come to this dark, evil and sinful mankind, rich as He was, and became poor so that we could become rich. How does that happen? Through the cross and His resurrection and ascension. He gave spiritual gifts to those who know Him and we are to be faithful with those gifts to be about His work and encourage others to do the same.

One thousand years before the fact, the above Proverb mentioned God’s Son, but not by Name. Now we know His Name. Call on Jesus to save you from your sin to a relationship with God through Him (John 14:1-6). For those of us who have called on Jesus, let us rejoice that we have eternal life, eternal peace and need not fear death because we know what happens after.
Yes, Dear Father, thank You that the best is yet ahead… forever. May I faithfully live for You now. I so look forward to being in glory, that perfect place with Jesus and all who love Him forever! Be pleased to work in and through me in such a way to impact many by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may this be so and all for Your Holy and glory.
