LIVE AS YOU EXPECT HIS EVER-NEAR RETURN!

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. —Romans 13:11-14

            Our Lord’s coming should have an impact on how we live.  Surely, if about 2000 years ago Paul wrote that our “salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed,” how much more is it today!  So, we should not be “sleeping” but awake and actively about our Lord’s work!  Are we?

            His ever-closer coming should encourage us not to be involved in “works of darkness” such as “orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.”   Rather, we should “put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime” and “put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”  This is how His expectant coming should encourage us to live.  Are we?  Oh, Dear Father, may we be faithful to the call Jesus has on our life and out of love for Him, serve Him and people.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son and my Lord Jesus.  So may it be.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBHcvJhc6Pk
