I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food. —Job 23:12
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. —John 4:34
What is of most important to you? Job said that he “treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food.” Do we have that same attitude? Are you more apt to miss a meal at the table than missing the feeding on God’s Word? How important is the Word of God to you? Are you listening daily and through the day to what He is saying? Job said he had “not departed from the commandment of his lips.” God’s Word was Job’s focus to hear and do. Is that our focus? Job did not do this perfectly, but that was his desire. Is that our desire?
Jesus said “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” Again, am I willing to miss a meal for the work of God? Jesus made it clear that His focus was doing the will of His Father. Is that our focus as well? Are we about finishing the work that God has given to us? We are told in Ephesians 2:10 that “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Are we about that work He has given us?
Dear Father, may Your Word and work be more important to me than food. Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Please guide me according to Your Word and guide me into Your Work. All for Your Honor and glory and for rhe benefit of many others. So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zaaiFp4RSM&list=RD9zaaiFp4RSM&start_radio=1
