FEAR IS A SNARE
FEAR IS A SNARE
(His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.) Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.” —John 9:22-23
A son who was born blind and his parents did not want to talk about his healing “because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.)” His parents did not in any way be aligned with Jesus doing anything that would hinder them being part of the synagogue. Instead of standing up for their son, they selfishly considered what might happen to them if they did. They were more concerned about themselves than their own son.
Fear of man is a snare. Fear of man holds one back from doing the right thing. Fear of man keeps one from speaking as they ought. Fear of man keeps one from doing and speaking what they should. The once blind man’s parents feared that if they spoke for their son they would be put out of the synagogue.
Is fear holding you back? Has fear snared you? Are you not doing what our Lord desires you to do because of fear? Are you not speaking as our Lord would have you to speak because of fear? Fear of man holds us back from doing and speaking what our Lord desires. On the other hand, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love (I John 4:18). So, let us love God with all that we are and let us also love people. When we do so, then fear will not snare us.
Dear Father, may I love You and people, not allowing fear to ensnare me. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So be it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QANH8MWuyaE
