FULFILL WHAT YOU TOLD THE LORD!

FULFILL WHAT YOU TOLD THE LORD!

If you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not delay fulfilling it, for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin… You shall be careful to do what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the LORD your God what you have promised with your mouth. —Deuteronomy 23:21, 23

Have you promised our Lord something and are not following through on it?  What would it be called if I told the Lord I was going to do something and then I did not do it?  Is that a lie?  Is that sin?

Peter had said to our Lord, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”  Jesus responded to him— “Truly I tell you, today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times.”   But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same (Mark 14:29-31).  What was the result?

“Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.” —Lule 22:60-62

Peter, Jesus called “the rock,” crumbled at this moment.  Imagine saying what Peter said— He would not fall away even if all the others did.  He would die with Jesus before he disowns Him.  And now, just as Jesus had foretold, the rooster crowed after Peter denied Jesus.  Then Jesus, after being beaten and abused, “turned and looked straight at Peter.”  Peter had remembered that Jesus said that he would deny Him.  Now he did “And he went outside and wept bitterly.”  Peter surely was not living up to “the rock” Jesus had named him to be… not yet…

Is there something you have said to the Lord that You have not fulfilled?  What if He were passing by you right at this moment, looked straight at you and you remembered what you had promised Him and yet had not fulfilled it— how would you feel?  How do you feel right now?  Will you do/be what you told Him you would do/be?  May it be so!  Yes, Dear Father, please help me to fulfill anything I say to You.  Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghowDhd-GUM
