HARD HEARTS!

HARD HEARTS!

“It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied. “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’” —Mark 10:5-6

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. —Romans 1:21

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? —Jeremiah 17:9

The heart, the inner man, the mind, the flesh… it seeks to go contrary to the ways of God and seeks to follow the ways of this world.  The heart… guided not by God can only lead to dark places and destruction.

“Hardness of heart” is what causes man to go against God’s design for marriage.  How does one who so loves and individual that they eventually marry and sometime later desire to divorce that same person?  It is hardness of heart.  There are Biblical reasons where one can divorce, but the vast majority of divorces that occur today is because of hardness of hearts.  They are not even open to God’s ways and desires.

The are like those of Romans 1:21 where “their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.”  This is what happens to people when they do not desire to follow God’s designs, plans and desires for life.  Their thinking is warped and God says they need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).

We are living in a time when it is clear that “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.”  Man left to his own thinking, being apart from God, will only go down a dark, destructive path and will, unfortunately, affect many others in the process.  G.K. Chesterton said, “When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.”  He also said: “The man who cannot believe his senses, and the man who cannot believe anything else, are both insane” and “Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions.” https://www.faithandculture.com/home/2019/5/29-believing-in-anything

We are living in a strange time when, in fact, that which is obvious is so clouded by ignorance and stupidity.  May God help us!  Yes, Dear Father, without You breaking through our darkness and giving us Light, we have no hope.  May You be please to work powerfully to impact many to follow You and think from Your perspective.  Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcmqSfr1ENY
