BEWARE OF THOSE ADDING OR TAKING AWAY FROM GOD’S WORD!
BEWARE OF THOSE ADDING OR TAKING AWAY FROM GOD’S WORD!
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. 6 Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar. —Proverbs 30:5-6
Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you. —Deuteronomy 4:2
And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. —Revelation 22:19
Who can we depend on 100% of the time to be speaking what is true? There is only One whose Word is perfect all the time and that is our Lord God Almighty. Those who take refuge in Him will know His refuge, His protection, His safe haven— His place of safety. But those who add to His Words will be found out to be a liar. So, brother and sister, fellow follower of Jesus, check everything by the Word of God. Beware of those who add to His Word and those who take away from His Word. Those are people who will be found out to be liars.
It is a serious matter to add to or take away from God’s Word. Those who do such things intentionally have a very serious warning that “God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.” So… someone intentionally adding to His Word or taking away from it is doing so for ungodly purposes. Those living for Jesus need to be very away of this ploy of Satan that can be seen from his very first interaction with mankind in Genesis 3:1— “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’? What God actually said was “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die” (Genesis 2:16-17). Satan added and took away from what God said.
By changing what God had specifically said Satan had Eve focus in on what He wanted her to do. She said that it was from the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” that they were not to eat from or they “will certainly die.” Now Satan totally takes away from what God said and adds his own word— “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:4-5). Satan enticed the woman to think God was keeping something good from her and that He was lying to them about death if they disobeyed.
Adding to God’s Word or taking away from God’s Word is Satanically induced. Only one word can twist what God has said and bring destruction. Another example of this is John 1:1— “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” is what God has said. The Jehovah Witness cult has added to His Word by adding “a.” So, their version reads— “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a God.” Adding the “a” totally changes who Jesus is from their perspective. They do not believe that Jesus is eternally equal with the Father and from everlasting, but that He was a created being— Michael the Archangel — before He was born in Bethlehem. How destructive is that when you think that through! So, beware of those adding or taking away from His Word.
Dear Father please give me discernment anytime I come into contact with anyone who is adding to or taking away from Your Word. Help me to be faithful to what You say and not add or take away from Your Word. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QhCK-8B4Hg
