BAD LEADERSHIP CAUSES GROANING AMONG THE POPULACE

When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan. —Proverbs 29:2

If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked. —Proverbs 29:12

 When the wicked increase, transgression increases, but the righteous will look upon their downfall. —Proverbs 29:16

An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked. —Proverbs 29:27

            When those who are ruling love the Lord and truly seek to do His will, then the people will rejoice.  But “when wicked people rule, the people groan.”  This is a good measurement to understand who is governing.  Are the people groaning and grieving and being physically affected?  Those are indicators of the wicked being in leadership.  This can be true of leadership at any level.

            When rulers listen to lies then it winds up that all his officials will be wicked.  Wow… that is interesting.  Rulers who are not living honestly, governing honestly, speaking honestly will be surrounded by people who do not have the best interests of the people in mind.  They have wicked schemes because of their selfishness.

            When the wicked increase it can only be followed by the increase of lawlessness as well.  Not here is a real indicator of a people.  What conclusion can one come to today as we see the immense increase of lawlessness in our country?  God’s Word is clear— it is because of lying, wicked leaders who hate what is righteous and hate those that are righteous as well.  This is a sin sick world and the light of God’s Word shows just how dark it is when the wicked rule.

            But again, brother and sister, what is to be our response?  Pray!  Pray for those who are governing.  Pray our Lord would be pleased to put righteous people in government.  Pray those in leadership would do the right thing.  Pray our Lord would expose evil and justice would prevail.  Pray for righteous laws.  Pray for the three branches of government— executive, legislature and judicial.  But always remember that only God is perfect and only He is our Savior.  “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us” (Isaiah 33:22).  In the end… He is the only One we can fully trust!  But let us pray for those in leadership as He has instructed us to do.

Dear Father I am so grateful to know I can trust Your judgment completely.  I can trust Your Word completely.  I can trust that You are a perfect King and will always do what is right.  Please help me to pray faithfully for those in authority as You have instructed us to do.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of my Lord and Your Son Jesus.  So may it be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtgIaMxrojw
