THE WAY TO ETERNAL LIFE

THE WAY TO ETERNAL LIFE

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. —John 5:24

How does one receive eternal life?  It is very clear from this verse and so many others.  First, a person hears the Word of God—

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”  But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. —Romans 10:14-17

Second, a person believes that he Father sent the Son—

“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world” (I John 4:14).

And there it is.  A person hears the Word of God, believes that the Father sent the Son and that is what it takes to have eternal life.  Not only will a person have eternal life but this verse also confirms that a person who believes “does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

So, brother and sister, since we have heard and believed from someone who verbally shared the good news with us and we are to do the same with others.  So I ask you— “When was the last time you talk with someone about this Good News of what Jesus has done for us so a person can “hear and believe?”  Again…

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”  —Romans 10:14-15

May we be faithful witnesses as Jesus has called us to be (Acts 1:8) and disciple-makers as Jesus commanded us to be (Matthew 28:6-20).  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYZw0dfLmLk&t=26s
