GOD’S ETERNAL GIFT TO US— HIS SON JESUS!
GOD’S ETERNAL GIFT TO US— HIS SON JESUS!
This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant. The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. —Hebrews 7:22-27
The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. —Psalm 28:7
High priests had to offer sacrifices daily for their own sins and also for the sins of the people. They had to do this every single day without ceasing and High Priests would come and go, but not with Jesus. He is a High Priest forever and He only had to offer one sacrifice for all time for sins— Himself. There are no more sacrifices for sin… none! Jesus took care of the sin problem for the whole world, but is only applied to every person who trusts in Him— for everyone who calls on His name for salvation from sin (Romans 10:13; I John 2:2).
Jesus is “exalted above the heavens.” He is eternal. Only Someone eternal could take away the eternal sin problem. No mere man could do this— “No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them—the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough—so that they should live on forever and not see decay” (Psalm 49:7-9). “But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself” (Psalm 49:15) and He did this through His Son, Jesus— “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (I Peter 1:18-19). Thank You God for this indescibable gift (II Corinthians 9:12-15).
I have no strength of my own, but my Lord is my strength. I have no protection of my own, but my Lord is my shield. I need His help and I will trust in Him. My heart will exalt Him and I sing songs of thanks to Him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbe7OruLk8I
Dear Father You have given me the gift of eternal life through Your Precious Son. Thank You that I will be with Him forever, Your gift to me. I am grateful and it is my desire to serve You out of loving gratitude. Oh, may I be sensitive to be what You desire me to be and do what you desire me to do by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUxI-ynsTnM
