DO A SELF TEST!
DO A SELF TEST!
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test. But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. —II Corinthians 13:5-8
This is a test… but it is a self test. Is there evidence in my life that I am truly in the faith? Have I truly called on the Lord to be saved (Romans 10:13). Is God’s Son and God’s Holy Spirit active in my life? Have I passed or failed the test? How about you?
Are we doing what is right or that which is wrong? Are we doing that which is bad or that which is good? Are we doing that which is evil or that which is righteous? Are we being obedient or disobedient? To not fail the test is to bear evidence that we are following the Lord, doing His will, becoming more like Him out of love for Him and for people. To fail the test will reveal evidence that we are living for self, doing our own will instead of God’s will, and having no fruit that will last. We would be living consistently against the truth and not for the truth.
How is your self-test going? To know Jesus is to love Jesus. To love Jesus is to obey Jesus. To obey Jesus is to live according to the truth of His Word. To live according to the truth of His Word is to bear fruit. To bear fruit, much fruit is to bring glory to God. Bearing much fruit gives evidence that we are His disciples (John 15:8). Is there evidence in our lives whereby we pass the self-test? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI1EyJrLDV0
