ALL BY GOD’S POWER!

For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the POWER OF GOD. —I Corinthians 1:18

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.  For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the POWER OF GOD and the wisdom of God.—I Corinthians 1:21-24

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the POWER OF GOD for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith. —Romans 1:16-17

     Followers of Jesus understand the gospel is the power of God (Romans 1:16), know that Jesus is the power of God (I Corinthians 1:14), rest in faith in the power of God (I Corinthians 2:5), commend themselves in the power of God (II Corinthians 6:4-6), live by the power of God (II Corinthians 13:4), and are shielded by the power of God (I Peter 1:5). “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us” (II Corinthians 4:6-7). Yes, what we are is by God’s power and what we do is by God’s power. We can do nothing for eternal benefit without Him.   So let us abide in Him! (John 15:1-17).
