 Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and HE MARKED OUT THEIR APPOINTED TIMES IN HISTORY AND THE BOUNDARIES OF TEIR LANDS. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. “For in him we live and move and have our being.” —Acts 17:25-28

            God knows the exact time you are going to depart this life. He also knows how you are going to depart this life. All of this is in His hands and yet we are responsible for the way we live the life He has given us. We will give account to Him one day for that.

            He is the one that carved out the times we are going to live— however long or short that time is. We are not to live in fear. Fear of death is not accepting that our time is in His hands. We will die (unless Jesus comes back in our lifetime). Will I die of a heart attack? He knows. Will I die in a car accident? He knows.   Will I die of COVID19? He knows. Whatever I will die from… He knows. Since God knows how I am going to die and when I am going to die, how should I then live? Should I live in fear of death? Absolutely not! To live in fear of death is not to accept that truly my time is in His hands and that “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14-15). We have been freed from the fear of death through our Lord Jesus.   If that is the case then if I am fearing death I am not trusting in the wonderful, victorious work of Jesus through the cross, the resurrection, the ascension and the promise of His coming back!   Fear is self-focused, lack of fear is God-focused.

            You had nothing to do with the time of your birth and you will have nothing to do with the TIME of your death. Yes, we are responsible for our actions and we need to live wisely in our Lord Jesus Christ according to His Word, but ultimately our time is only in His hands.   Grab a hold of that truth and then live by it in boldness and joy, not in fear and sadness. Oh dear Father may this be so in my life by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. Yes, dear Father, so be it!
